Tika has struggled here. She is at the bottom of the pecking order, bullied by Steve Holt! and not tolerated by Sandy. Even when Sky Bar and Vita were here last year, she found herself pushed around and picked on.
Over the course of the winter, Tika and I shared a moment, and I later shared it with you. We'd stood out in the late evening, wind blowing, and she'd curled her neck around me as though protecting me from the elements. I'd had an overwhelming urge to cry for her...it was a maternal instinct in her, trying to protect me and keep me safe. She missed having a baby with her, and it was heartbreaking.
Which is why this moment was so special...

That brought a little tear to my eye. How sweet for Tika.
Very sweet!
Oh my, the look on that filly's face is precious! Tika's finally got a girlfriend to hang out wiht.
Do you have any interest in breeding Tika? I bet she would throw some really lovely foals that would be easy to find homes for...
I'd been taking shots at the two of them standing together, but when that one of Beamer's eyes closed came up, it really hit me, lol!
Blob...while there's a great pull on my heart to have babies with Tika, I can't justify it with the current economy. Too many mustangs out there already in need of homes, and many of them just as nice as my girl. It's hard when she's got the heart of a mother, though!
Awww, what a sweet photo.
What a sweet picture, that little bay reminds me of Gilly when he was a yearling. Like Leah said brought a tear to my eye too!
A tear or two for me too.
Bet she would make a wonderful babysitter for weaning foals, too. I am so glad she now has a friend. Everyone needs one now and then!
