The Count Down

I'm nervous, for some odd reason. Or excited. I'm not certain which it is. Six more sleeps....in childhood terms. Less than a week before my friend Debbie & I are on the road to beautiful Harney County.

They told me to bring my rubber boots. Are you kidding? Seems the 'white mud' is melting and making a mess. But by next week the temps will be back up into the mid-50s during the day and that leaves me very hopeful.

Whaddya think? Pretty good looking horse, wouldn't you say? Reminds me so much of Steve Holt! in the eye and expression. From his photos, he's got a similar way of moving as well. Three years old, 15 hands...yeah, I've got someone who's considering him. Told her to show me the money...(travel expenses for pick up, don'cha know!)

Another gal has also requested I start a mustang for her. She's recently sold her mare and has cash in hand for both transport and a couple months training. I hate to train this time of year, but it sure would be nice to make a little extra money, so I've got to say I'm sorely tempted... We'll see what happens!

Mighty windy in my little valley tonight...not the norm for us. Hope we retain power overnight!

My kids are 12 going on 13 and we still say, "Two more sleeps until we..." Hard habit to break, isn't it? LOL!!

Very cute horse...nice size too. And it IS warming up...

That is great you have some interest in a Mustang and someone who wants training....that bay gelding is nice, love the gentle eye!! Can't wait to hear about your trip to Harney County!!

I hope it goes well with your SH! clone :) I still wish Cody had been taller (they had him listed at 15hh and he is now 14.3 if he needs a trim, but he's a bit butt high so I'm still hoping he'll catch up).

Yes there is lots of color in the corals right now, but I rather like the bays :)

I can't wait either. I am finally in the position to go to the corrals. I want to see the roan's. I got the newsletter the other day, and they are going to have 150 horses up close for bidding. I just hope the weather turns nicer and doesn't rain. Maybe I will see you there. I hear Michelle Severe will be there. She is a painter from Burns. I hear she is pretty good. I guess I will get to see.

The BLM is advertising free delivery within 400 miles for any horses adopted during the "Color Fest" weekend. Will they deliver the gray mare you plan to pick up? I hope to be there that weekend.

I am really excited. A little nervous about the long drive. Nikki and I can do it though.

David, it will be great to see you there! We were wondering if they'd haul sale authority as well as adopted horses, and I just got confirmation that yes, they will haul for us. Thanks for your support!

Jade, yes, Michelle will be there along with Andi to promote the book. Mustang U will also have a booth, so make sure you say hi!

Frog, I always estimate 2" shorter than what they say. Steve Holt! is still not 16 hands...but most folks think he's taller :)

Ah'ma getting excited!

I really wish I could go!

I was just perusing the horses listed on the burns website and out of all of the horses, I picked out a really nice 3 year old 15 hand bay as my favorite - really nice conformation! And then, imagine my surprise, that is the very horse that you are going to pick up!

Looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend!

Yes, Michelle will be at the adoption with prints and cards of the artwork she has done for my book! I'm excited and it looks awesome! The originals are hanging at the US Bank in town so if any of you get in town before the bank closes, go check it out!

Too bad you're on the other side of the country - I would love for you to train a Mustang for me....
