A quick pic

Froglander came by today to watch me work with Steve Holt! and I asked her to grab my camera for a quick photo shoot. I didn't realize just how tall this boy was until I saw the picture!

My headache refuses to leave. The past couple of days it has subsided with the help of pain killers (something I rarely take), but today it had no intention of leaving. My neck is stiff and shoulders sore. I think it's from trying to clean all that wet manure out of the paddock. It's a never ending job as the horses refuse to leave their stalls or paddock, even though the gate is open to the pasture. Bad enough they didn't go out in the snow, but still? Sigh...(and that sigh is not the good kind like Steve Holt! is now doing!)

I was at the chiropractor today and have a massage scheduled for Monday. Hopefully I'll get some relief soon. Tomorrow morning is my lesson with Curt, and on Sunday? Well...

Earlier this week I came to the decision that I needed to sell a horse. So I put Jet up on the mustang forum. Lady of Chaos responded instantly that she and her husband were interested, so they're coming on Sunday for a visit. It will be difficult to part with my girl, but she does not fit into my goals, which include getting back into the show ring. She's a trail/dressage horse and not a cutting or reining prospect (which I'm dearly wanting to try), and certainly not western pleasure material. Darling's infatuation with Dressage was short lived and she's now enjoying Sandy. And I must admit there's just a tinkling of desire to find a way to keep Steve Holt!... Even if I don't end up keeping him, I'm forever drawn to starting new horses, and the extra space will be needed for my ever revolving mustang door.

Darling is working on editing the video clips from Thursday. I, however, am too tired to wait. Off to bed with me! Y'all have a good weekend and I hope to see you back for our week six update this weekend.

Tracey, I thought the same thing when I saw that photo, how tall is he??

That would be great if you could sell Jet to keep SteveHolt!, but I would be sad to see Jet go as well. She is a nice mare though, and I'm sure whoever gets her will have a horse for life!

The trees made a great background, you two look good! I'm glad the sun came out and burned off all that fog! Steve Holt! was fun to watch, I think you guys are doing awesome. It's nice that even when he gets a little cranky you just calmly keep going until he relaxes again so he realizes nothings going to eat him. My mom was asking what days in March the competition was so it looks like we are going to go! (I'll find enough odd jobs to pay for it somehow, lol).

Hubby is so excited. He's already told everyone that he's not working on Sunday, that he'll catch them tomorrow or Monday instead lol. He's asked me the same questions about Jet about ten million times. Hopefully they click, I don't see any reasons why they wouldn't. We'll see you on Sunday!

Sheesh! I didn't know he was that tall either!!

I'm with you on the stalls!! The horses don't want to leave so they're just pooping machines. I can't keep up with it. And they turn the woodchips to mush immediately.

Good for you, knowing when to get rid of horses. I've never figured that one out! But I have finally figured out to stop bringing them home. It's always SUMMER when I do that--in WINTER when I'm cleaning stalls, running low on hay--NO WAY!

Funny, after seeing that pic I too thought wow he's tall, before I started reading the post! He's gorgeous. Hopefully Jet will find her calling with a new family. You are doing such a nice job of promoting the Mustangs!

Love that picture Tracey it's a very good one. Just how tall is Steve Holt! He is such a beautiful boy.

I hope you are able to find Jet the perfect home and it sounds like Lady of Chaos and her hubby will be a good match :o) I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I totally agree also about the poo shoveling. I had to let my padock go as my wheelbarrow has not just 1but 2 flat tires and we have not pump! It's yukky out there.

I can't wait to read your week 6 update!

Am I allowed to say that I like Steve Holt! better than Sandy? He is just such a classy looking horse, and so photogenic. He moves really nice too.

Hope your head feels better soon. I can relate to too much horse poop with all the rain, rain, rain we've had this winter. Now we have freezing temps for the first time in a very long time. I had forgotten horse bisquits would freeze. Loved the photo of you and Steve Holt! He's a nice looking fellow.

Steve Holt! is definitely a handsome boy and from the looks of it not camera shy. That's pretty cool.

I usually don't really notice how tall a horse until it's time to stick my foot into the stirrup. This old body loudly protests over the tall ones.

I wondered if you wouldn't get a twinge of wanting to hang onto this guy. I know for me the more I work with a horse, the more attached I get. It's hard to chose between keeping the one you've grown to love and getting to continue starting new ones, that's for sure.
