And the Winner Is...

It's been difficult finding information on the Extreme Mustang Makeover as it's happening, but one of the mustang lists had a member who's in Forth Worth and posting as results come in. Interested in seeing the winners? Well, here they are!

Guy Wood 1st place
Kitty Lauman 2nd place
Zane Davis 3rd place
Avija Aunina 4th place (she road English)
Dwight Bilyk 5th place
Bill Lopez 6th
Holly Davis 7th
Nick Bowman 8th
Cody Keller 9th
Robin Secrist 10th
Roeliff Annon 11th
Jeremy Dunn 12th
Steven Hampton 13th

I'm so happy to see Zane and Holly both in the top ten! Way to go, guys! I'm looking forward to hearing how the adoption portion of the event goes today. Wonder what the top bid will be? Wonder if my new friend,Susan, who lives in Southwest WA, will be able to buy back her Mac?

It was also announced that they plan on sponsoring two more Mustang Makeovers. Cool, eh? I'm thinking hard about whether or not I've got what it takes to do this. I'd like to give it a go...what do you think?

Brassy, up for 'adoption'

After the high of the EMM, here's a downer. Someone posted to the mustang message board that there are two BLM horses at CBER, a 'rescue' that has a shady reputation and has had several horses die while there. Truly, they are horse traders and nothing else. They've been banned on at least one message board from asking for donations. If you'd like to take a peek into the controversy, here's a link: http://www.speakforthehorses.com/CBER.htm

I have such a difficult time leaving them there. It's a difficult thing; you know that those people won't stop as long as others will buy from them, and you hate to leave the animal there because of the neglect. One of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations.

'Forgotten'...what a name. I hope she doesn't get forgotten.

Tracey, if you want to save those horses on the feedlot in Yakima, go straight to the feedlot. Don't go thru CBER (personal experience with the whole group was awful). The guy who owns the lot will sell you any horse, all you have to do it go there.

Thanks for the listing of the EMM winners! I've been going crazy trying to find the list as well. :)

I've heard that also about the feed lot guy! Often times he'll sell for less than half of what CBER wants.

This one is just driving me crazy, like I need to do something, but I have no idea how/what/when.

I don't know why Forgotten's pic isn't showing up...is the other one there? Here's the link to Forgotten (that name is driving me crazy!)

Rachelle, that's interesting; I didn't realize the horses were still at the feed lot. Guess that answers the question as to how to avoid handing money over to CBER, eh? Have you got contact info for the feedlot? I wonder if they've got the titles to those horses?

Just look up Gary Seals Livestock in Zillia WA. Or Chuck Walker. That's the guy that owns the feedlot. PM Zim on the Northwest F&R board, she lives near there and might be able to help you out there.

They might not have titles to the horses. They don't check. Last summer a mare was 'adopted' thru CBER. A beautiful BLM palomino mare. They traced her freeze brand and discovered that the horse had been listed as missing for 5 years. The 'adopter' had to have herself approved by the BLM to even keep the mare that she'd paid the huge amount for.

Another mare was adopted last fall, she had a title with her though. So, it could be either way.

Thanks, Rachelle. I'll be doing some research and finding out if these horses are titled or not. If they aren't, you can bet we'll be hauling them off the lot :)
