I'm fearful because I'm old and brittle, and my horses are young- except Beamer- but I have learned to follow my instincts, even if it isn't what I may have accomplished in a training session 20 years ago. I often do less than the horse could use, but when I get off, I'm intact, and both of us are in a good state of mind. Sometimes, that's all I can ask, of myself, or my horse.Shirleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15454110560303310751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-85656125246721655372010-10-14T04:17:16.941-07:002010-10-14T04:17:16.941-07:00I loved this mare's eyes first time I saw a ph...I loved this mare's eyes first time I saw a photo of her and I still do. There is something there that just calls. I think she will be the one to help you move forward through your issues. Seems hers are in the past? My husband says you eat an elephant one bite at a time and you crawl back on a horse one inch at a time.phaedra96https://www.blogger.com/profile/13073887491311158448noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-37225662582724248782010-10-13T13:51:36.811-07:002010-10-13T13:51:36.811-07:00Hmm fear has no reason, thats why we fear it so mu...Hmm fear has no reason, thats why we fear it so much. She will be ther for you when you are ready. I agree just take it slow and itll work its way out. You are really brave to work with all those mustangs all the time, I do admire your courage.Crystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18035210092855895218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-5185858622288099532010-10-13T11:57:20.077-07:002010-10-13T11:57:20.077-07:00You will make it my friend - we had a grand time i...You will make it my friend - we had a grand time in Oregon. Not alot of horses in the S Steens but we saw a few up close. Too many hunters bombarding the area. No horses or sign of horses down the OO Rd. We spent the better part of a day there and we could not get in to Paisley. We needed a 4x4 and my pretty Toyota didn't qualify.Lea and her Mustangshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10081978031741002235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-20568705863628815832010-10-13T08:49:46.843-07:002010-10-13T08:49:46.843-07:00Wow...do I ever get where your coming from! It so...Wow...do I ever get where your coming from! It sounds like your injuries are fairly fresh. I second what everyone else has said about taking it slowly. The horse won't mind. I have been reading about a technique called EFT (emotional freedom technique). Jane Savoie ( a dressage trainer) advocates this technique. It's interesting and might be of help too. You can google it if your interested.wilsonchttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18085470527006328839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-72838589195936651772010-10-13T07:40:17.304-07:002010-10-13T07:40:17.304-07:00Wow--well written and honest. I agree with Kate--the horse really doesn't mind if you take it slow. Most people wouldn't even be getting up on a green horse with a broken toe!!! You're a great cowgirl and a heck of a lot braver than I am.Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14303523299217618526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1858836779457163540.post-30664952340287661302010-10-13T03:49:19.294-07:002010-10-13T03:49:19.294-07:00Those fear things can be really hard to get over -...Those fear things can be really hard to get over - I've had my own issues with that and can certainly understand. Just doing it and not pushing yourself farther than you're comfortable will do the trick - the horse won't mind if you take things slowly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
